Sunday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

We accept many items for disposal and recycling at the transfer station.


Examples of the materials we accept for a fee:
  • Appliances and furniture
  • Brush and yard waste (Not accepted in plastic bags or mixed in with garbage.)
  • Construction and demolition debris
  • Regular household garbage
  • Wood
The following recyclables are accepted at no charge:
  • Aluminum and tin cans
  • Cardboard
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Mixed paper (includes newspaper)
  • Plastic containers marked #1 - #7 on the bottom
Please be sure to separate your recyclable items when you drop them off.

We do not accept the following materials in the recycling containers:
  • Garbage
  • Plastic bags (Take plastic grocery bags to your local grocery store for recycling.)

What Happens After I Drop Off My Recyclable Material?


After garbage is dropped off at the San Martin Transfer Station, it is transported to a landfill. Recyclables such as paper, cardboard, cans, bottles, and metal are sent to different recycling facilities for processing. Clean yard waste is transported to South Valley Organics, a compost facility located at Pacheco Pass Landfill. This facility uses what's called an AG BAG system to process yard waste into compost.
