City of Morgan Hill Garbage Collection Service
All garbage and recycling containers need to be placed at the curb or roadside the night before your service day or by 6:30 a.m. on your service day. Remember that collection times may vary.
Garbage Cart Information
When you start service, you will receive one 48-gallon garbage cart. If you need extra cans, you may purchase garbage cans, but they cannot exceed 32 gallons and must have handles. If you live in a multi unit complex, please put your unit number or your address on your cans. There is no limit on the number of garbage cans you set out for pick up, but the material must be generated from your residence and the can must not weigh more than 50 pounds. You may also rent an extra 48-gallon garbage cart with wheels for an additional charge. Contact us for more information.
Please do not place the following items into the garbage cart:

- Recyclable items such as newspapers, glass bottles and cans.
- Compostable materials such as food scraps and yard waste.
- Undamaged, re-useable items that can be donated to charity.
- Oil drums, fiberboard barrels, dead animals, or household hazardous waste.
- Fluorescent light bulbs or tubes. Contact customer service to find out how to dispose of fluorescent bulbs.
- Electronic waste such as televisions, cell phones and computer monitors. Contact customer service to find out how to recycle or safely dispose of these materials.
- Propane tanks Contact customer service to find out how to safely dispose of propane tanks.
- Rock, concrete, brick, sheet rock, stucco and other construction materials. The most convenient option for disposal of construction material is South Valley Disposal & Recycling, Inc.'s Debris Box Service. We will drop off a debris box in a designated location and pick it up when it is full. Construction material may also be discarded at the San Martin Transfer Station.
